A topical anaesthetic will be applied to numb the treatment area to ensure the procedure is comfortable, you’ll feel a little prick and slight pressure. 

Unlike most dermal fillers, Profhilo gel does not contain Lidocaine as it is not required.

As with all non-surgical aesthetic treatments there is a risk of side-effects, such as minor bruising or swelling at the injection sites. These do not usually occur and generally subside quickly when they do.

The beauty of a temporary filler or gel is that if required or necessary it can be dissolved by Hyaluronidase, a compound which breaks down Hyaluronic Acid (HA).

The treated areas will be a little swollen at first, but you’ll see the effects of the treatment immediately, you will need around three to seven days for your face to fully settle.

Profhilo is a treatment that works by increasing the production of collagen beneath your skin, therefore the true results develop over time as the Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is released and begins to repair, this happens over a period of 3 – 5 days.

The Profhilo gel, made of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a water holding molecule. For the best results it is beneficial to be well hydrated prior to the treatment. 

7 Days Prior: If you are taking any blood thinning medication then ideally these should be stopped several days before the procedure, only with your doctors consent. Thinner blood will make the area more prone to bruising and bleeding.

3 Days Prior: Avoid any aggressive facial treatments, such as AHA peels. These activities increase blood flow to your face, which can only add to the swelling.

2 Days Prior: If you suffer with cold sores, it is possible that the procedure could trigger an outbreak. Therefore it is advised to take antiviral treatments around two days leading up to and after the procedure. 

24 Hours Prior: Avoid alcohol before your treatment, alcohol in your system heightens the chance of swelling and bruising.
