Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments used in aesthetic medicine to improve skin quality by supporting regeneration and repair at a cellular level. They help strengthen the skin structure, improve hydration and enhance elasticity without adding volume.

A course of 2–3 treatments is usually recommended for optimal results, spaced approximately 2–4 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments may be advised every 6–9 months, depending on individual skin concerns.

They are particularly popular for delicate or thinning skin where skin quality is the primary concern.

Most clients find the treatment very manageable. A topical numbing cream can be used where needed to minimise discomfort, especially in sensitive areas such as under the eyes.

Side effects are usually mild and temporary. These may include redness, small bumps at injection sites, swelling or bruising. These effects typically resolve within a few days.

Polynucleotides are derived from highly purified DNA fragments, commonly sourced from salmon or trout DNA, and are biocompatible with the human body.

Polynucleotides cannot be dissolved like dermal fillers. However, as they do not add volume, the results fade naturally over time as the skin continues its normal renewal cycle.

Results develop gradually. Most clients begin to notice improvements in skin quality within 2–4 weeks, with optimal results continuing to develop over 6–12 weeks following treatment.
